URBAN COTERIE: Bottomless brunching with a view

The opportunity to sample brunch with a view is always alluring, after all who doesn’t like to dine against a backdrop of London’s beautiful cityscape. We hadn’t been to M by Montcalm hotel on City Road yet so it was a great excuse to check out the hotel too, as new restaurant Urban Coterie (on the 17th floor) was hosting the said brunch.

Urban Coterie was created by Searcys in collaboration with Michelin-starred chef Anthony Demetre and is led by Head Chef Killian Lynch, the general menus we’re told will change each month, with a focus on British produce and seasonality, whether this rule applies to brunch too we’re not so sure.

The brunch menu itself has been designed by Anthony Demetre and guests are invited to choose three options alongside bottomless mimosas! We dived straight in with a mimosa and browsed the menu, whilst enjoying the view. We opted for duck scrambled eggs with hot smoked salmon and avocado toast with Brixham crab to start followed by duck leg confit with lentils and avocado toast. For dessert we decided on the waffles with maple syrup and ice cream, and the custard tart, the latter isn’t something we’d normally go for but upon recommendation we decided to give it a go and we’re pleased we did, delightfully light it was the perfect end to our meal.

Designed by London based TONIK. Associates, Urban Coterie takes inspiration from many aspects of the building’s architecture, while traditional materials such as brass, timber, bianco marble and leather soften the buildings sharp angles.

The result is a beautiful space which encourages friends and family to dine on delicious food and drink and while away few hours relaxing and enjoying the view.
