The Vincent restaurant & café has opened off Dalston Lane adding another bright and beautiful eatery and social spot to the Hackney-Clapton area. This is a true neighbourhood establishment. The philosophy of the team is to support all things local, unique and independent. This is evident from their choice of lemonade to where they source their gluten-free baked goods as well as their overflowing list of undiscovered ciders or IPA brands which you never knew were on your doorstep.
The interior is earthy, bright and modern with glass surrounding half of the space. The environment is uplifting ‘literally’ as half their toweringly tall ceiling is taken up by large reclaimed wooden beams supporting a giant jungle of plants twice the size of most people, one of the plants even has real bananas growing towards the light. I could work here all day or catch up with friends for brunch or dinner.
The purpose of my trip was to discover The Vincent’s new bottomless brunch with unlimited Hugo Cocktails or prosecute. We started with a delicious beetroot, ginger and apple ‘Daily Dose’ 100% raw slow press juice and oat milk flat white before we dived into their menu.
Hearty and healthy is how I would describe the menu. As well as all the traditional full English, Granola & Eggs they offer a fun range of breakfast bowls & waffles with a large range of offering for vegetarians. All ingredients are sourced locally with an emphasis on supporting sustainability and independent business’s.
Stepping outside the box we devoured the Vegeree Bowl (spiced sweet potato, halloumi, golden beetroot fritter, curried rice, eggs, golden raison, fresh herbs and mango salsa) with chipotle beans (so good!) and bacon on the side followed by the naughty waffles with butter fried chicken, bacon and maple syrup which was by far the best I’ve had to date.
After a long break we managed to sample their gluten-free salted caramel brownie and orange cream cheese polenta and blueberry cake, the perfect Sunday send off, all sourced from a local Dalston bakery…needless to say we didn’t have dinner! We are going to make sure we return for to conquer their ‘Mushroom Vegan Balls ‘Bowls’, which they say, are all the rage!
