Shikumen, has opened it’s fourth location on the first floor of Dorsett City Hotel in Aldgate located within the contemporary Matrix building this month. This is the first central London location for the popular restaurant following opening in Ealing (2015), Shepherd’s Bush (2015) and Finchley Road (2016) and unusually for a Chinese restaurant it will be open from 6.30am (7am on Sunday) offering hotel residents, local professionals and locals a Chinese breakfast and weekend brunch menu.
Residents will also be able to order room service from the Michelin recognised menu that includes the Scallop Siu Mai Topped with Tobiko Dim Sum .
As in their other restaurants, the interior similarly echoes the unique architecture of 1940s Shanghai (Shikumen meaning stone gate). Furnishings of dark wood and colonial-style shutters create an intimate and elegant dining room in the smallest Shikumen of the group hidden away on the first floor of the hotel. The dining room provides up to 80 covers and offers diners views over the 18th century St Botolph’s Church.
Shikumen Aldgate is offering 50% off food only offer during their soft launch period. This offer is available now until the end of September.
