This London Cocktail Week from Wednesday 3rd – Sunday 7th October 2018 will see the two houses of Rémy Martin x Cointreau join forces to celebrate the ultimate classic cocktail, the Sidecar, invigorating this iconic timeless cocktail with an inaugural trade competition and interactive consumer activation.
First coined in Harry MacElhone’s book The ABC of Bartending back in 1922, The Sidecar was made famous at the Ritz in Paris – Rémy Martin and Cointreau were forever entwined. In homage to this marriage, Rémy Martin and Cointreau created the #SidecarCup18 – a nationwide trade competition designed to create a conceptual and contemporary twist on this timeless classic cocktail.
The bartenders with the most exceptional creations were invited to compete in the final hosted at Mercato Metropolitano. A small panel of Rémy Martin judges, have chose the winners of five most exceptional cocktails based on taste, innovation and heritage of both houses – which you can try at the Sidecar Bar by Rémy Martin and Cointreau at the London Cocktail Week village from the 3rd – 7th October.
5 finalists of the #SidecarCup18 are :
• The Good, The Bad & The Ugly: Alexandre Robin, Sketch, London
• Sweet Road: Matteo Gianuzzi, Sofitel
• Soy Bean: Elisabetta Luppi, City Social, London
• Rikuo 97: Danny Laycock, Issho, Leeds
