PURIFYNE: 5 day juice cleanse, review

Everyone had an opinion when I told them I was embarking on a 5 day liquid only diet, a few thought is was a genius idea, a few thought I was mad and that I’d turn into a mega bitch.. my grandmother nearly called a doctor.

Having done a little research into the benefits of a 5:2 diet and occasional fasting, namely better brain power, clear skin, boundless energy and a lovely lean body, I was ready to get on the juice.
Purifyne call themselves London’s premier Juice Cleanse company, so I thought that would be a great place to start and I decided to go for their signature 5 day cleanse, a package that promises to “ Support your body’s natural detoxification processes by getting super infusion of healing nutrients directly into the blood stream. This gives the body an opportunity to cleanse, lose weight naturally, heal itself, rebuild on the cellular level and bring out your skin’s natural glow” -easy!
The first juice delivery arrived on Monday evening in a nifty cooler bag. Inside were several juices (my first 2 days supply), a body brush mitt, supplements in the form of pills, powders and liquid and a personalised welcome/instruction letter from the Purifyne team. So far, so very good.
The following 5 days looked something like this:
Day 1.
Wake up excited for my first day of cleanse, take my supplements and instructed and pop a few juices into my bag for lunch, mid afternoon and dinner. Purifyne send me the first of my daily ‘Cleanse Tip’ emails which is appreciated.
At work I keep myself busy with meetings and calls so keep cravings at bay. Only slight snapping at colleagues. In the evening I go to a gig and drink water. Feel smug. Happy to have completed day 1.
Day 2.
Wake up half an hour before my 7am alarm and ready to go. Head to the gym with my juices, then work. I suddenly find that my sense of smell is incredibly heightened and I can smell a bacon butty at 100 paces. I can almost taste it. This new superpower makes life slightly tricky but I battle on.
In the evening I head to a live screening of La Traviata at the Curzon and curse myself for breaking my fast with a small handful of popcorn and when we go for dinner afterwards, I ask the waiter to gently heat my Purifyne broth and serve it in a bowl as if it were soup. This is my least favourite of all the juices. I’m wobbling but persevere. The second juice delivery arrives.
Day 3.
Wake up again well before my alarm and feel fantastic.. sleeping soundly and waking up early and refreshed has to be the best benefit of this cleanse so far. Then I look in the mirror and realise that my skin is gloriously clear and, dare I say it, glowing. Success!!
Juices and tea during the day is getting easier now, I am learning to control the urge to snap at people and feel pretty smug about life. Also notice a slightly flatter tummy.
Then in the evening, I wobble again. This time at a work event in Reading. Canapes! The devil! I eat 3 prawns and a mini steak bite.
Day 4.
Feeling awful about the canapés, I head to the gym and sweat it out. Working out on a cleanse isn’t hugely advised however as I wake up feeling full of beans again, I make the most of my new found energy.
Day 5.
It’s my youngest brother’s birthday and we meet for lunch. My grandmother is with us and I can’t bear to tell her that I’m not eating. I tuck in to a starter portion of gnocchi with mushrooms and a sliver of birthday cake topped off with a mint tea. My body finds this intake overwhelming and the second I’m home, I fall asleep on the sofa.

Today I wake up feeling good about life. I may not have been completely strict with the cleanse but I feel I’ve done a decent job of it.
Overall I feel proud of myself for having nearly completed the 5 days and I highly recommend it. My skin has been glowing and wonderfully clear, I feel lighter and brighter and have loved beating the alarm each morning.
The juices really are delicious, bar the broth and the supplements are great too. Purifyne really do deliver when it comes to service and quality.
From me it’s a 8/10.
