When someone asks if you want to spend your Sunday afternoon feasting on eight, yes, EIGHT!, scrumptious plates of pasta you say yes, ALWAYS say yes.
And guess what, the chances of this happening now are pretty high as Pastaio debut their ‘All In’ feast consisting of eight signature pastas from their menu.
Yet another bold idea from the hugely successful, Stevie Parle. His previous experience learning the craft of pasta at River Café and honing this skill at earlier restaurants Dock Kitchen and Rotorino has tee’d up his independent ventures in Pastaio and Palatino (among others) to great repute.
The ‘All In’ offering is perfect for two and costs £45 including a Prosecco slushie, ooh la la!
When the pasta is this fresh and the slushie so sweet, you can’t deny it’s an absolute steal.
The eight dishes offer a wide variety of pastas, sauces and ingredients. You can fully indulge in spaghetti, ravioli, rigatoni and follow with linguine, tagliatele and bucatini and not feel one ounce of guilt. You might choose to dabble in a cheesy Carbonara, a garlic-y Vongole or a Bolognese ragu. Whatever your preference, each dish is as tasty as the last.
This menu is all about mixing and matching with your fellow pasta party, trying a bit of everything and claiming stakes on your preferred plates. Well, that’s what I did anyway…
If you’re feeling super hungry, it’s a bright idea to sandwich the eight plates with a starter and dessert either side. Both too good to miss, a stack of Sourdough plunged in gooey Burrata and a boozy Tiramisu are necessary for the full Pastaio experience.
What’s Pastaio got that other pasta joints don’t? Well, for starters all pasta is made on site by the team, produce is selected from the best British producers, Gluten Free options are available, and the fun-for-all signature Prosecco slushies are a great addition.
Simple, quality, handmade pasta is balanced with casual and bright decor. The space is designed by established designer and long time friend of Stevie’s, Tom Dixon. A large mural by artist Supermundane, full of bold colour displays itself on the back wall of the restaurant, fronted by sturdy stools and broken marble top tables creating a clean, contemporary space.
Pastaio is open 7 days a week from midday until late and is walk-in only.
