Following the success of the Rock Vault initiative during London Fashion Week last month, The International Palladium Board made an appearance in Paris a few weeks after. They launched an innovative partnership with designer Hussein Chalayan and gave him the opportunity to use the precious metal, known best for its qualities of lightness and strength, for his Autumn/Winter 2012 collection. Chalayan’s vision and creative exploration of the contemporary precious metal palladium featured as part of the “Domisilent” collection.
“It was very appealing for me to develop an idea inspired by the lightnss and strength of palladium”, the designer commented. “I have been able to intertwine palladium with two dresses and emulate the inspiration behind the collection into the designs. This partnership was a very natural gravitation; I am interested in materials that are not automatically associated with clothing. This is what my work is all about.”
This collaboration was part of the “Palladium Visions” campaign, which will see the international palladium board working with some of the world’s most visionary artists, designers and jewellers.
