Based in London’s Bankside – the foodie mecca of the capital city – there’s a new Hilton Hotel with a very exciting restaurant concept.
Swing through the luxy hotel foyer and into the 168 cover dining suite and await the feast which is OXBO.
Headed up by Executive Chef Paul Bates the OXBO is modern English dining at its best. On our visit we sampled a spot hitting Sunday Lunch menu which was incredibly reasonably priced at just £28 for 3 courses and a glass of prosecco or £40 for re-fillable prosecco!
The starters are pilled high on a luxury buffet station which displays really fresh carpaccio, mouth-watering smoked salmon with capers and lemon, tuna and salmon sashimi as well as loads of fresh salads and veggies locally sourced from the traders at Borough Market.
Next up the mains were served to the table. We feasted on a very tender Roast sirloin of Gloucestershire beef with a ginormous Yorkshire pudding, duck fat roasted potatoes and a bowl of crunchy seasonal vegetables . My guest sampled the corn-fed chicken roast with vine roasted tomatoes which again was really quite substantial and very, very tender.
Rounding off the meal (and us) we headed back to the desert buffet where you could help yourself to almond bakewell tarts, brownies, millionaires shortbread, cookies, many mouses, creme brûlées as well as a board of fine British cheese and homemade chutneys – wow!
Completely astounded and not what you expect to find inside a Hilton, the OXBO dishes out fantastic food and also gives everyone the chance to taste luxury.
