Residents of South East London, rejoice! OnBlackheath Festival is coming to beautiful Blackheath common in September, proving that there’s more to the ‘SE’ postcode than excellent National Rail services and, frankly, a lot of hills. Held in partnership with John Lewis, Massive Attack will headline on Saturday 13th and Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls are confirmed to head up Sunday after a busy summer of festival appearances.
Other highlights include DJ sets from Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard and Django Django’s Dave Maclean, as well as a set from NME darlings Jagwar Ma (recently at Field Day and performing intimate gigs for the likes of Lumia Live Sessions). To see the full extent of OnBlackheath’s diverse musical soiree, have a look here.
Perhaps most significantly, there will also be food. Lots of food. Gizzi Erskine will be leading the ‘Chef Club’, where Michelin starred chefs such as Smokehouse’s Neil Rankin will whip up dishes using fresh, local produce for us to sample. There will be plenty of food and drink pop-ups throughout the weekend and the legendary Blackheath Farmers’ Market will take pride of place.
It’s no longer just about the annual fireworks display, folks. Book your tickets for September now.
