As organically delicate as an O’keeffe Iris, Ted Feighans third full length ‘Return to Paradise’, by his pseudonym, Monster Rally is most feverishly awaited.
Hand crafting and collaging samples from his own record collection, Monster Rally pans over a patchwork quilt of genres. Passing the baton from exotic hip-hop, to tropical chillwave to deep soul, with each genre feeling as worthy and needed as the next.
Both the headline singles “Orchids” and “Palm Village” have been let loose, giving us an inclination of what’s to come on the full album. “Orchids” is steeped in mystery, with a French feeling narrative running over quivering instrumentals and sashaying layers of dewy guitars. Following in suit “Palm Village” faces you with both old school Malibu slipper sleaze which is neutralised by a new sounding background beat which hints at a mystery remaining unsolved.
This album is set to be auditory escapism, let your ears solve the problems.
