Victoria in London features a hotchpotch of bizarre hotels. I walk past one that tells me it has 'hot and cold water' - which one would hope - and another advertises the fact that there is central heating. But peel away the spread of bizarreness and you'll unearth and absolute gem of a place, the Artist Residence. I checked into the boutique homestay on a Monday night before catching an early flight from Gatwick the next morning. Andrew Wong was born and raised in London, and has been immersed in the world of restaurants since childhood. His grandfather, who moved to London as a Chinese refugee, owned pubs in the East End and a restaurant in China Town. In 1985, Andrew’s parents opened a Cantonese restaurant, Kym’s in Pimlico, named after Andrew’s grandmother - now the present location of restaurant A. Wong. It seems it was inevitable that Andrew would follow suit, we caught up with Andrew over delicious food at his restaurant which has certainly made us rethink our perceptions of Chinese food.
