FLORISTRY MASTERCLASS: Dalloway Terrace launch Orchidya popup, Bloomsbury

Last week we attended a fragrant and festive floristry wreath making workshop. This was the first of an exciting series of workshops taking place as a partnership between Dalloway Terrace and Orchidya florists.  Orchidya have a new popup flower shop next to Dalloway Terrace selling a range of hand-tied bouquets from £30 and, moving into the festive season, a range of beautiful Christmas decorative items for the home.

I attended the christmas wreath making workshop with one of the Orchidya florists. It was a two hour session packed with insider tips and creativity using a natural selection of decorations which we were taught to pin and wrap with bows. The florists helped with everything from technique to layers, adorning metalic sprayed golden mushrooms and tree foliage while dressing colorful bunches of  apple slices, orange chunks, cinnamom and eucalyptus leaves.

Classes are priced at £120 per person or £100 per person for groups with a minimum of five participants and last approximately one hour. The class can also be combined with a delicious Pierre Marcolini Chocolate afternoon tea for £165 per person, served with a glass of Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut and including a white chocolate and Christmas pudding dome; assorted macaron; pecan and salted caramel chocolate slice; freshly baked plain and sultana buttermilk scones; and smoked turkey and cranberry sandwiches in brioche.

Orchidya’s first retail store opened in Store Street, Bloomsbury in 2012 after much demand from the London public who admired their Gold medal winning orchids at the Chelsea Flower Show. Since then, they have blossomed into a full service florist with both private and corporate clients. Most of Orchidya’s orchids are grown in their own 13-acre glasshouse in Lincolnshire, meaning they have a longer life and a lower carbon footprint, but they have since branched out and their expert florists are highly adept in designing and innovating floral arrangements for all occasions with a wide range of blooms.

The Orchidya Popup Flower Shop at Dalloway Terrace will be open 8.00am – 7.00pm weekdays and 10.00am – 4.00pm weekends.
