Ah, Bestival. The Emperor of boutique music festivals. How we have awaited your 2014 arrival. And with just two months to go, we are getting more than a little excited. With a veritable banquet of musical magic lined up over four days, the Isle of Wight’s annual jamboree is set to be bigger, better and more varied than ever.
This year, it’s the dawn of disco at Robin Hill. The Desert Island Disco themed weekend will see us shaking our limbs and furiously Macarena-ing to the likes of Outkast, Tune-Yards, Busta Rhymes, Basement Jaxx, Foals, Wild Beasts and Beck, to name but a few. Phew! See the full line-up here.
But, as always, there’s more to Bestival than incredible music. Fesival-goers can kick back with ‘Desert Island Flicks’: the Amphitheatre’s late night cinema. Movies include cult classic Withnail & I and Almost Famous. We can’t wait to hear South-East-London-bred poet, playwright and Bestival regular, Kate Tempest, speak about her writing experience on the Amphitheatre stage and perform as part of of Scroobius Pip’s line up in the Satin Lizard Lounge sessions.
Bollywood returns to Bestival this year with takeovers from Skream, Bicep, Ram Jam and Faith. Festival founder and curator Rob Da Bank maintains that “Bollywood is everything that Bestival is all about, from its mind-bending entrance and lavish insides, to the dangerously moreish cocktails and full on party music.” Sounds like fun to us.
2014’s Bestival is unmissable. Buy your tickets now. We’ll see you there!
