Recently opened in London’s Soho, this immersive 1946-style bar is one of the capital’s best cocktail spots. Its instant popularity means it’s hard to get in without an advance booking, but mark a date in your diary now and make sure you pay a visit. It’s worth it.
The theme
During the war, disused underground stations were transformed into furnished air raid shelters in which Londoners could sing, dance and be merry, escaping the horrors outside.
The nightly escapades were kept alive after the war had ended, with some scallywags hosting night-long parties in the defunct spaces.
This ongoing spirit can be found in the newly-opened Cahoots bar in Kingly Court. Enter, and you’re instantly transported into a post-war party station, complete with mismatched decor, costumed staff, and vintage train carriages.

Cahoots’ inclusive experience welcomes all. Take your colleagues, a first date, your oldest friends or even your grandma for a good old-fashioned knees up.
Cocktail highlights
There’s a lot of choice on this newspaper-inspired menu, but, if you’re feeling indecisive, list your favourite flavours and the bar staff will guide you through the best of the best.
We loved the sweet but subtle ‘Quick One Before Take Off’: a heady and unusual butterscotch blend of chocolate bitters, ale and whiskey. It would be rude not to sample a house shot of Cahooch – a lethal concoction of rum, Cointreau Noir, sweet vermouth and bourbon.
