If you haven’t heard of BearMade, then read on, as this bag company is shaking up the outdoors accessory scene and doing good at the same time. A winning combination we say!
BearMade make bags for the conscious community.
Their mission is simple: Get people outdoors, talking about mental health and produce British made bags that don’t cost the earth.
BearMade has launched a collection of seven bags that support an ethical outdoor lifestyle, with a new collection launching tomorrow in a shade of yellow to bring attention to endangered bees. Love it!
Ranging from backpacks to fly fishing packs, each piece is handcrafted by a small team of passionate craftspeople in the Suffolk countryside.
Some of our favourite styles include the Stean crossbody – £60, the Gouthwaite Mini – £75, and the Ramsgill Pouch Small – £45.
With a timeless design ethos and weatherproof materials; BearMade bags are made to be used everyday, no matter where that day may take you.
BearMade believes the best way to make something with the planet in mind, is to inspire people to protect it.
That is why at least 10% of sales from their products fund free unique wild workshops; from fly fishing to foraging, cycling and group hikes.
Hosted by the team at BearMade these workshops will start in the summer, hosted in various locations around the UK.
What’s more, BearMade has put aside funds to offset the carbon of the equivalent of 59 BearMade bags for every one sold – that means for every Gouthwaite backpack sold, BearMade will plant 20 trees.
Commenting on the BearMade concept, Oscar Boatfield, the firm’s co-founder said: ‘By buying BearMade you are helping us prove that it’s possible to make something locally, responsibly and affordably.
‘In the UK alone an estimated £140 million worth of clothing (300,000 tonnes) goes into landfill each year. We plan to plant 300,000 trees by 2025.’
