B-Soho pizzeria and cocktail bar have launched their ‘B-Skinny’ menu, featuring low-cal pizzas and guilt-free cocktails & mocktails. Feeling slightly dubious, and convinced that a tasty pizza under 500 calories could only be the stuff of legends, we headed into the heart of Soho to see if the myths were true…
We kicked off with a couple of skinny cocktails, opting for a Petite in Pink; prosecco, lemonade, lemon juice & cranberry served in a frozen rocks glass and a Nameless; vodka stirred with elderflower cordial & mint with soda water, two of six cocktails on offer, all coming in under 110 calories. The prosecco cocktail was a nice contrast between sweet and sharp, and the elderflower concoction was a cool and refreshing way to start the meal. Neither tasted as virtuous as their 110 calorie label suggested they would, and we considered having another few (but decided this might defeat the point a little). Also catching our eye on the cocktail menu were the Sweet & Low Local; a mix of tequila, lemon and agave syrup and the Kiwi Cooler; kiwi fruit with vodka and lime juice.
Next we moved on to the pizzas, choosing the Skinny Bresaola; salty bresaola beef on a tomato base, with baby spinach & shaved parmesan and a Skinny Smoked Salmon & Soft Cheese; smoked salmon, low fat cheese, fior de latte mozerella, with a sprinkling of dill. The bases were crisp and thin, but the toppings, although tasty enough and certainly fresh, were a tad on the stingy side. To be expected on a skinny pizza? Perhaps, but we were hoping for full on flavor without the X rated calorie count.
B-Soho’s B-Skinny menu is a great for those looking for somewhere with low-cal options to enjoy dinner with friends, and the skinny cocktail menu is definitely something we’d go back for. Just don’t get jealous of your mate’s cheesy margarita with a side of goat cheese bruschetta…
